Autumn days like today which are crisp, sunny and full of the rich hues of orange Autumnal leaves, are my favourite kinds of days. I love how it's November and the leaves are still turning. With the change of seasons here, I've been looking for some Autumnal inspiration and Melissa's mood boards on Polyvore have been perfect in giving me lots of great ideas for homeware updates. This Autumn Kitchen board is my favourite.
I really enjoy cooking and I've recently started a health and exercise plan to help with my diabetes, which involves a lot more time spent in the kitchen cooking. I do love my kitchen accessories, hence I was so taken with Melissa's Autumnal Kitchen mood board. I was recently on holiday in Lisbon in Portugal, a place I very much fell in love with. It's such a beautiful city and the food there is incredible, lots of fresh ingredients and fresh fish. There is a delicious Portuguese dish, a fish stew with rice; Fish Cataplana named after the Cataplana pan it's cooked in (a copper lidded pan shaped a bit like a clam shell) which really inspired me. I'd love to try and recreate this dish at home; it would be the perfect cosy Autumnal dish, hearty and filling whilst reminding me of the last of the summer sun! I did purchase a Cataplana pan of my own whilst in Lisbon, but sadly the copper ones were vastly out of my budget so I've been on the hunt for a good copper pan closer to home. House of Fraser have a great homeware section which I previewed here. The Linea range of copper pans on the mood board, instantly caught my eye and they're on promotion....cue heart eyes emoji!!
I have to admit I am very much enjoying a copper 'phase' at the moment and have been loving the range of copper homewear currently in stores. I've been selecting a few key pieces to add some updated homely touches such as a new copper bedside lamp and I have my eye on the Iron and Clay hammered copper bowls next. Come payday, I'm looking forward to making a few additions to my pots and pans collection and cracking on with mastering the perfect Portuguese fish stew! I can't wait!
