“A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.” - Coco Chanel
I was really in need of a haircut as I last cut my hair back in June and the ends of my hair were not looking too happy, so I booked myself in for a haircut with the lovely Russell at Brooks and Brooks in London.
Brooks & Brooks have won many hairdressing awards including Best London Hairdresser & they do the hair for magazine shoots & London Fashion week.
I've lost count of how many different hairdressers & hairstyles I've tried over the years & let's just say those experiences didn't always work out very well, but that is a worry I haven't had for a good while now.
Russell was recommended to me by my lovely friend Sarah after I commented on how amazing her hair looked. Russell has been cutting my hair for over 3 years and be honest I wouldn't entrust my hair to anyone else now. With Russell I always get a cut & style which is flattering, suits my fine hair & importantly for me, one which I can easily style at home. I can also head back to the salon for a free fringe trim when I need. The styles always grow out well too & still even look good when I really need a haircut, which is the sign of a good cut. I've had so many compliments on my hair since I've been going to Russell. Once even, when out for coffee with a friend, I caught her surreptitiously taking photos of my hair & sending them to her hairdresser to recreate the look, which I found funny but I was also very flattered. A good haircut always makes me feel good.
As I've mentioned before, I have fine hair & so I'm always on the look out for volumising hair products which don't weigh down my hair or leave a horrible residue. While I was having my hair styled, Russell told me about Lift Vertige, a fairly new root lifting gel by Kérastase which he used on my hair. You can see in my picture that I definitely left the salon with a voluminous & glossy hairstyle. I was very impressed so I grabbed some Lift Vertige (and a free Brooks and Brooks candy cane) to take home with me and I'm really pleased I did. It really does hold the volume in my hair; I still had voluminous hair for 2 days after my haircut, which never happens with my fine hair & I couldn't be happier with my new hair style. I've been using the Lift Vertige gel for the last few days. I use just a small pumpful, working it into my roots, running it through my hair while damp and then blowdrying my hair as normal. The gel not only adds and holds volume, it also acts as a heat protectant so I don't need to use multiple products on my hair. I picked up the Lift Vertige gel from the salon for £12.50
